District Governor Bio:

Gary Wilburn was born in Springhill, Louisiana. As a child the family constantly reminded him "we were from Oklahoma." Gary and Lynn (40th anniversary next year) have a comprehensive background in childcare ministry, serving as live-in houseparents and later on administrative staff of children?s homes in both Louisiana and Oklahoma. After working more than 20 years for the United Methodist Child Care system, Gary became a United Methodist minister. The school superintendent invited Gary to join the Lions Club. Gary has held numerous offices (zone chair, vice-president, president, director and committees) and Vice District Governor. Gary's hobbies include Oklahoma historical research and genealogy. His 30 years of research and various ministry assignments across Oklahoma give him a keen understanding of how the unique differences of Oklahoma unite to make such a great state. Gary is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, has a Master's Degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and his Master of Divinity degree was earned from Phillips Theological Seminary (Tulsa and Enid). Gary is ordained as a Full Elder with the Oklahoma United Methodist Conference. This summer he begins his 5th year as pastor at First United Methodist Church of Seminole. He and Lynn have 2 daughters.
